This is the sending of an email falsely claiming to be a bank, ebay or a bona fide organisatiion trying to con the resciprocant into divulging private infotrmation that will be used for identiy theft. The email directs the reader to a bogus website where they are asked to update details such as passwords, credit card or bank account numbers.The website looks like a legitimate organisation by mimicking the HTML code. For safety we recommend that you should never reply or click on any links in emails of this type.

Domain Name Scam
A company called Central Web Pages Register Limited is issuing invoices for £225 giving the impression that if the invoice is not paid the domain name will be lost. These invoices are, actually, for inclusion in a web directory. Most domain names ending in .uk are registered through an ISP and need to be renewed every two years

From 31st October 2003 companies using any form of electronic communication to send out promotional literature including newsletters will have to obtain the consent of the person or company to whom it is addressed.
